On Thursday, Sept. 22 at Clingman Cafe in the River Arts District, Get There Asheville held its second primary city council forum, The Step Right Up. Sixty-four (64) participants signed in during the event.
At the end of the event, a straw poll was held. In the straw pole each event participant was given three votes, just like in the election, where all voters have three votes to cast on three different candidate.
Unlike the election, there was no regulatory oversight of the straw poll to prevent supporters or partisan activist or candidates themselves from placing all three votes on the candidate of their choice.
GTA does not endorse any candidate, we simply work to provide voters with insight into the transportation opinions of the candidates. The below results do not represent an endorsement or support of any one candidate. The results of the Get There Asheville straw pole are;
Lael Gray -32
Saul Chase – 11
Chris Pelly – 20
TJ – 5
Marv Hunt -47
Mark Cates – 47
Jan Davis – 24
